📌 2026-07-22

Hey there! 👋 Here's what's new, fixed, and downright awesome in Shiftbase.

Release date: Wednesday, 22 July 2026

🚀 Top highlights

Auto scheduling now shows its work Auto scheduling got smarter about getting you set up. A new readiness check walks you through what the scheduler needs to do its best (required shifts, skills, availability) and flags the gaps before you run it. And when a shift stays unassigned, you'll now see exactly why, like an employee going over their contract hours, so you can weigh it up and assign in a click.

The new timesheet Priority View (now in Labs) Approving timesheets shouldn't eat your afternoon. The new Priority View puts the entries that need attention at the top, lets you approve clean ones in seconds, and makes conflicts easier to work through. It's live in Labs on web and mobile, so switch it on and tell us how it holds up.

A clearer yearly absence overview Getting around the yearly absence overview is faster now. Jump a month or a year in either direction, or hop straight back to today. Deactivated employees drop out of the view, inactive contract periods are marked so you're not guessing, and a new year view gives you the whole year at a glance, handy for finding that sick day back in August.

For our German customers: we've started a soft launch of HR PRO onboarding built for the German market, capturing the right new-hire data before the first shift. We're rolling it out to a handful of customers first to get it right. Want in? Let us know.

🛠 Other fixes & improvements:

  • Multi-line custom fields: Custom text fields are now proper text areas, so you and your team can add line breaks and write as much as you need.
  • Clearer schedule status: Published and unpublished shifts now use straightforward green and red indicators, with better hover actions, icons, and tooltips to guide you through recent changes.
  • Timesheet totals at a glance: The timesheet table now shows total hours worked and cost per employee.
  • Fresh branding across the web app: Updated logos, colours, and interface elements, with team and absence colours that stay readable in both dark and light mode.
  • Balance report fix: The balance details report now shows the correct expiring hours for employees with more than one contract.
  • Bulk skill assignments fix: Assigning skills in bulk now applies to every selected employee, even when a search filter is active.
  • Absence report fix: Department names no longer show up twice.
  • Stronger account security: Email address changes now come with rate limits and a heads-up sent to the old address.

📲 Mobile:

  • We fixed absence type icons, stopped your name from overlapping the header buttons on the home screen, tidied up time input fields, and restored the date picker on iOS.
