📌 2026-08-19
Hey there! 👋 Here's what's new, fixed, and downright awesome in Shiftbase.
Release date: Wednesday, 19 August 2026
🚀 Top highlights:
Auto scheduling now works by the month Auto scheduling used to stop at the week. Now you can run it across a whole calendar month, and it handles the messy edges for you: partial weeks at the start and end of the month are counted towards contract hours, so a 40 hour contract stays a 40 hour contract. Approved absences now count towards contract hours too for employees on fixed contracts, so someone on holiday no longer gets scheduled around their time off. Minijob employees get their monthly cap treated as a hard limit, with last month's balance taken into account.
Best fit recommendations for required shifts Required shifts now get the same recommendations you already had for open shifts. Open or edit a required shift with a shift template selected and a new Recommendations tab shows you who fits, so you can assign in a click. Adding and assigning are now separate actions: "Add" closes the modal as before, "Add and assign" takes you straight to the recommendations. The recommendation list shows blocking reasons up front, with the full reasoning one button away.
Big reports open again Large reports could freeze your browser tab. That's fixed. Reports tables are faster, and they now paginate with a page size you choose, so a report with thousands of rows and dozens of columns loads without bringing the page down.
Rolling out gradually: new accounts signing up can now get a draft schedule built for them during onboarding, based on the schedule they upload. We're switching it on for a small group first to see how it holds up before going wider.
🛠Other fixes & improvements:
- Skills where you need them: Link a shift template to a skill straight from the skill modal, see the required skills in the shift sidebar for regular and required shifts (not just open ones), and find an employee's skills as a clear list on their profile overview.
- A fresher look for employee admin: Employee and team lists, bulk absence and balance correction pages, and bulk employee action pages now follow the current design system. The employee permissions table is easier to read too.
- Smoother schedule scrolling: The team header transition is smoother when you scroll the week and month views, and tables that scroll sideways now show you there's more to see.
- Override your turnover forecast: You can track AI turnover forecasts and set your own figure when you know something the forecast doesn't.
- Timesheet Priority view polish: Cleaner background fills, roomier input fields in narrow columns, no more double scrollbar, and inline number edits only save once you're done typing. Meals and kilometres are read-only when you've switched those settings off, and admins can clock out their team from the Priority tab again.
- Notes on running timesheets: The note button now opens the note popover for timesheet entries that are still in progress.
- Timesheet source is accurate: Timesheets copied from the schedule no longer show up as added manually.
- Reports and filters: Report tables no longer leave a stretch of white space when there are only a few results, long contract names show in full in filters, and report date filters keep working through library upgrades.
- Integrations: Update expired Unitouch credentials without support, Loket payroll exports book hours to the right cost centres, and receipt imports work again for currencies like Swiss francs.
- Deployable hours are back: Viewing several departments at once shows deployable hours again.
- Fewer broken notifications: Declining an open shift that's already deleted no longer triggers a broken email.
- Stronger account security: Login lockouts after repeated failed attempts work again, multi-factor recovery by email is rate limited, and the branding storage bucket is private again.
- All plans page: Browsing all plans no longer throws errors.
Mobile:
- The "Account inaccessible" screen is clearer, with copy that matches your account status and your permissions.
- The manage widgets page works again.
- The keyboard now closes when you pick an account, so it stops covering the buttons underneath.
